Celebrating 50 years at CPA Insurance Plans West
It's a golden year for CPA Insurance Plans West as we mark our 50th Anniversary. Since 1975, we've protected the health and wealth of professional accountants across Western Canada. This year is about celebrating you—the person behind the designation—with contests, promotions and more!
Our History
1975
Western CA Service Association was founded as a non-for-profit corporation offering Group Employee Benefits to Chartered Accountants across Western Canada.
1986
Individual insurance products (Term Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, and Home and Auto Insurance) were added to the program.
2009
By the early 2000’s, the program served over 10,000 clients with Term Life Insurance becoming the flagship product. In 2009, WCASA’s name was changed to CA Insurance Plans West. 1
2015
As a result of the merger of the three professional accounting bodies (CA, CMA and CGA), CA Insurance Plans West changed to CPA Insurance Plans West.
2017
New partnerships formed with The Personal Insurance Company (TPIC) for Home and Automobile Insurance, and Desjardins Financial Services (DFS) becoming the underwriter for the Term Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance.
2025
CPAIPW celebrates its 50th Anniversary serving CPAs and their spouses, as well as CPA Candidates and CPA firms. We’re committed to taking care of the person behind the designation, by protecting the health and wealth of CPAs.

We’re rolling out our CPA Candidate Program to provide PEP Candidates with $50,000 in free Term Life Insurance for the duration of their candidacy.
CPA Candidate Scholarships
Our CPA Candidate Program also includes scholarships and bursaries in each of the western provinces to support PEP Candidates working towards their designation, while supporting their families.
